  • International environment-related labelling system
  • The Eco-Labelling Program, energy-related system, and material mark system are typical Eco-Labelling Programs implemented abroad. Some systems are operated by an individual country, and some are jointly operated by many countries. In other words, the Eco-Labelling Program exists in various forms. In particular, in the region (country) where citizens' environmental awareness is high, such system tends to be operated driven by civic organizations.

  • Since it was introduced in Germany in 1979 with the recommendation of OECD, it is currently implemented in some 40 countries including EU, Northern Europe, Canada, and Japan. The operation status of major countries is as follows:

  • Internationally, the Global Eco-labeling Network (GEN) as each country's Eco-Labelling Program operating agency council was founded in 1994. To date, most countries implementing the Eco-Labelling Program have become members of GEN.

  • Information sharing on each country's system operation procedure, target product lines, and certification criteria; unification and standardization of classification system

  • Feasibility research for promoting mutual recognition
